5.3 Determining Density
In this activity you will measure volume and mass to determine the density of several objects.
|
Conclusion:
1. How can you use density to identify a material? Answer: Density can be used to identify an object by discovering the mass of your object on the scale, then finding the capacity of an item with a uniform shape. 2. What are limitations of the calculated and indirect volume measurement? Answer: An indirect measurement of volume would be by displacement of a liquid by a solid. Calculated volume would be measuring the side of the cube & getting the volume. 3. Explain the difference between weight and mass. Answer: Weight is the force of gravity acting upon an object, while mass is the quantity of matter in an object. |
